I really don't have anything to say at the moment, I just can no longer stand to have that cat's ass staring me in the face. So instead let's all look at Robert Hegyes, aka Juan Epstein from Welcome Back Kotter.
But in coming up with something to say, I have developed a new segment here at Hey Joe; Random Celebrity Update. Robert has graciously agreed to help me out today by being my first guest.
In this segment, I will choose a random celebrity and attempt to bring you up to speed on their current existence. I will not be choosing those who are always in the spotlight because, frankly we get enough of them already. I prefer the more obscure, perhaps those who have even fallen off the map. Anyway, we'll see how it goes.
Most of us obviously remember Hegyes from the Kotter days, a great show by the way, where he played the sweathog known as Epstein. Prior to landing the Kotter role, Robert was working in various on and off-Broadway productions. After Kotter is when Hegyes sort of fell into obscurity, at least for me. However he seemed to remain somewhat busy, landing the role of Manny "Esposito" (a little typecasting going on here?) on the dyke cop show, Cagney & Lacey.
According to my research, which included a half-assed browse of Robert's Wikipedia page and his "official" website, Robert has guest stared on over thirty television shows as well as a handful of movies. He currently resides in Venice, California and has a girlfriend, one Cynthia Wylie. The couple have raised four children together, two of which are Robert's from a previous marriage.
Robert taught several classes at Rowan University where he was awarded an artist-in-residence status. Today he is working on The Venice Walk, the first series produced and developed solely for the internet.
As I said, Robert has his "official website", but it seems a bit out of date and frankly there was more information then I was willing to slog through. I mean I don't care that much.
