Yet another delight I've never heard of... From what I remember about kids' stuff, British TV focused less on cartoon-type things, and more on home-made puppet type things (like one of my favourites, Bagpuss: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEeTkHk5JxE, or another one, The Clangers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3rWghGSm4Y - this isn't the theme song, but an actual episode. God, it's so wonderfully weird!). One American cartoon I do remember was this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3_XRsDP7eM. And of course, in the puppet style, there was also the inimitable http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuRkAyRfz_c. OK, I've finished for today! Your TST posts are consistently one of my favourite posts every week!

My TST posts are my only CONSISTENT post of the week!

Bagpuss?

Pambasilea

I had to Google this one!

Bagpuss - "a saggy old cloth cat, but Emily loved him". *Sniff* So cute.
And The Clangers - the guy who did that clearly consumed waaaay too many illegal substances (but thank God he did!).

heyjoe

Those crazy Brits!

Oh, my, I just watched the episode of Clangers - and you are right - so wonderfully weird and weirdly wonderful! Thanks, Kirsty!

I also checked out Bagpuss, and as a cat lover, I find him adorable.

Kirsty

When I was about 4, I wanted a "real" Bagpuss more than anything in the entire world. That and to be able to change my name to Emily because for sure I would have loved that saggy old cloth cat...
As for the Clangers, well, it's a classic! Just ask any Brit aged 40-ish and down (to about 25 I would think)! There were many of these types of show: Chigley, Trumpton, the Herb Garden (Lord Basil and Lady Rosemary, and their dog Dill!), Issy No-No, Mr Ben... Ah, those were the days! Now my girls watch mindless cartoons *sigh*
Bah, humbug.
