I don't remember ever watching this show, but for whatever reason the title, James at 15, is lodged in my memory. The theme song rings no bells whatsoever.
I'm sure Pamba and Kirsty had crushes on this pretty boy. You're welcome.

Well, Joe, perhaps because I was 17 or 18, young Lance Kerwin had no appeal for me at all. Ha! Kirsty?

I've never heard of this show, but in 1977 I was 7 or 8 so I'm guessing yes, I would have had a crush on him (this was full JimBoy Walton and Fred-from-Scooby-Doo time, remember?). But I fear that they all paled into insignificance the following year because Grease came out and after that I was John Travolta all the way (had to really work on my mother to get to go and see it, but I think she figured it was probably less horrendous than the nasty, violent punk stuff sweeping Britain back then...). Thanks Joe!

Sorry, Pamba. Better luck next week.
Diane - Yeah, I think it was a pretty forgettable show so you're not alone. And thanks. It's getting pretty discouraging.
Kirsty - Perhaps the Monarchs feared too many pre-pubescent girls engaging in Beatle-esque bouts of screeching and wetting of the knickers, and thus would not allow the likes of James to cross the pond. That or it simply sucked, and the BBC failed to pick it up.

I believe it sucked. I do remember it and that I didn't like it. James was a dweeb.

ps which True Grit is in your Netflix queue, the first or the Coen Bros?
Posted by: Pambasilea | May 26, 2011 at 06:47 PM
That would be the Coen Bros.

It's amazing - so true to the book, which is among my favorites, and Portis' vision. The Coen Brothers are remarkably restrained and respectful of a nearly perfect novel. Let me know what you think when you've seen it!

okay, I'll admit...I loved this show :)
