Great story!
But oh! Poor Ben! I feel so badly for him and his teenage self (I can also relate having had similar experiences at school dances, but that's a story for another day I feel)...

Ben Nutty is perfect, Joe. We all remember him from middle school, high school, work, maybe a reunion. When you meet him as an adult, you know exactly what he was like as a kid. The guy no one thinks about till he's there in the room and after he leaves you wonder if he ever really sees himself. Because if he did, he would just stop. The glimpse he catches of himself in the glass in this episode is all he can manage. You portray the perfect loser with kindness, Joe. It's like watching wounded pigeon. I can't think of many writers who do that so naturally. In fact, I can only think of Tolstoy but that may be because it's not yet 7am Saturday and I haven't had my coffee yet. Keep Ben Nutty alive.
