I can't imagine this show getting the green-light today.
TV Writer: "I want to do a cop show, but get this, the cop's in a wheelchair."
Studio Bigwig: "Is this some sort of reality show where our cameras will follow a gimpy officer and record the frustrations and embarrassments of being a wheelchair-bound cop?"
TV Writer: "No, it's a cop drama. You know, like CSI or Law & Order, except that this cop is in a wheelchair! As such, he'll have to rely on his brains and his wit to foil the ne'er-do-wells."
Studio Bigwig: "So.., is it some kind of super-powered wheelchair that can fly, or at least go really, really fast?"
TV Writer: "Uhh, no. Just your standard issue, paraplegic-type wheelchair."
Studio Bigwig: "Does this cop have one of those monkey helpers, who will act as a comedic sidekick for our "wheelchair cop"?"
TV Writer: "Um, no. He's just a good-hearted cop who was hurt in the line of duty, but still feels he has a lot to offer the department despite having lost the use of his legs."
Studio Bigwig: "Get out of my office, you fucking quack."

I'm guessing this must have been aired later in the UK (because I'm oooooolllddd) than in the US (which sounds pretty much par for the course, the UK always lagging about 5-10 years behind the US) because I think I can safely say I've never seen this show, but I know the theme song - I could hear it on the TV downstairs when I was in bed as a kid...
Really love these Theme Song Thursdays!

Thanks, Kirsty. Yeah, I think this is one of those shows my parents watched. I never did.

My dad watched it religiously, and as I got older (like 12 or so), I watched it, too. I had a crush on Don Galloway. Thanks, Joe!

Good Lord, woman. Who DIDN'T you have a crush on?

Good question! Let me think on that.

I DID NOT have crushes on David Cassidy, Bobby Sherman, Starsky, Bo Duke, or BJ. But pretty much everyone else, including some baseball and hockey players. Sigh.

Ha!
OK, how come I don't get any comments on all my creative comedic efforts? I put my heart and soul into this, people.

We take you for granted, Joe. We expect funny and we get it and we move on. Ingrates.
