For your consideration, I give you the 1964 Disney record, Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House. According to Ray Keim, Disneyland's Haunted Mansion was complete, but sitting empty in the also newly completed French Quarter. Seems the good folks at DL had their hands full putting the finishing touches on "It's a Small World," prior to its debut at World's Fair. In order to keep the public's appetite whetted for the scary, scary, DL released Chilling,Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House.
When I was a kid, my buddy next door had this album. The two of us would sit for hours listening to this record. Featuring the rather gender ambiguous voice of Laura Olsher below are links to a few of my favorite tracks. I love that someone actually videotaped the record on the turn-table. So Enjoy and Happy Halloween! And don't forget to watch The Walking Dead on AMC tonight!
The Haunted House - love the combination howl/groan at the end!
The Very Long Fuse- Suprise!
The Unsafe Bridge- It SWAAAYS dangerously with your weight! Note the coyote-roadrunner-esqe splash.
Chinese Water Torture- How PC! And how technically savvy they were in the 60's. You can hear someone moving around during recording, basically dropping droplets of water into a bucket.
The Martian Monster - Mmmmm, astronaut.
